Post & Beam Quilt Block Instructions
November 2006
Start with a 4-1/2 inch center block. Any color you like, if you want you can "fussy" cut a specific picture out of a print like I did.
Cut a bunch of 2 inch strips from any coordinating prints and solids.
Cut 2 pieces of the 2-inch fabric strips, 4-1/2 inches long. See picture A. These will be your first POSTS.
Sew to sides of your center block with ¼ inch seams. Press seams.

Cut 2 pieces of 2 inch fabric strips the exact length of the newly made unit. (approx 9 inches long).
These are your first BEAMS. See Picture B.

Repeat the Post and Beam process with alternating or coordinating prints and solids until your block reaches the desired size.
This pattern can be used for a number of blocks to make up a quilt or keep growing to make a One Block Quilt. Good Luck!
