Relax!

Working on your chosen craft and find yourself getting stressed? Happens to all of us and sometimes the cure is just this simple:

Get up and walk around!

It is important to try to have work surfaces and seating at the right level so you won't get kinks in your neck, back, shoulders or anywhere else. However, we often find that what is the perfect height for one thing is not for the next part of the same project. You might try raising or lowering your chair [office or computer chairs often give that option] or standing instead of sitting for a while. If it is something you do a LOT of, consider the most comfortable options for the majority of your labors.

Of course there are all kinds of great hobby tables, cutting tables, adjustable chairs etc on the market. If you can, buy one! [or more!]. Reality however is that most of us make do with what we have, due to either financial or space constraints. This is where you can get innovative with blocks under a table to raise it while you work, lower it for meal time. Extra cushion on your chair, seat OR back, could be the ticket. Change the shoes you are wearing if you are on your feet a lot.

Get up and walk around!

I know, we already said that one. However, it IS important. Leave your project, stretch, go outside and check the weather, smell the roses, call a friend, put away some laundry, get something to drink and come back to your project. You will be revitalized, the tension will leave your neck, your project will zoom along!

Get up and walk around!

AND.... Don't forget to keep those fluids going. You are not exercising a lot, but you need them just as much. Stretch a bit, do any of those other things, have a glass of water, close your eyes for a few seconds, and you'll find you are ready to continue on. Closed your eyes and found you napped 15 minutes? OK!! Won't hurt you a bit! And now it is time for me to

Get up and walk around!
